Rep. Mark Green's last day in office was Sunday, leaving 219 Republicans and 212 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives.

With Green's departure, there are now 431 House members and four vacancies, including those from late Democratic Reps. Sylvester Turner of Texas, Raul Grijalva of Arizona, and Gerry Connolly of Virginia.

Green, the Republican from Tennessee, said last month that he would leave Congress for the private sector once the House voted again on President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill," in a statement first obtained by Fox News Digital.

Judicial Watch on Monday announced that the Justice Department (DOJ) has filed a "statement of interest" in its lawsuit against the state of Illinois, which calls for the state to clean up its voter rolls to be in line with federal law.

Judicial Watch filed its lawsuit last year and it is part of a larger string of lawsuits against Democratic-led states to clean up their voter rolls to purge residents who have died, or who are otherwise ineligible to vote.

The DOJ claimed in its filing earlier this month that the case "presents important questions regarding enforcement of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA)," which requires states to make reasonable efforts to remove ineligible voters from the rolls. States are required to remove the names of people who fail to respond to confirmation notices and do not vote in the next two general federal elections.

😏U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani issued a temporary injunction partially blocking a new federal law that cuts Medicaid funds to Planned Parenthood, ruling today that it likely burdens First Amendment associational rights and denies equal protection.

The ruling targets Section 71113 of the Reconciliation Act, enacted July 4, 2025, which bars Medicaid reimbursements for one year to “prohibited entities”—tax-exempt nonprofits primarily in family planning that provide elective abortions (except for rape, incest, or maternal life risks)—and their affiliates, if they exceeded $800,000 in FY 2023 Medicaid funds.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America, with Massachusetts and Utah affiliates, sued HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz, alleging the law is a bill of attainder, violates free speech and association, and unequal treatment. They sought an emergency injunction.

A federal judge on Monday sentenced a former Kentucky police officer to nearly three years in prison for using excessive force during the deadly 2020 Breonna Taylor raid, rebuffing a U.S. Department of Justice recommendation of no prison time for the defendant.

Brett Hankison, who fired 10 shots during the raid but didn’t hit anyone, was the only officer on the scene charged in the Black woman’s death. He is the first person sentenced to prison in the case that rocked the city of Louisville and spawned weeks of street protests over police brutality that year.

U.S. District Judge Rebecca Grady Jennings, in sentencing Hankison, said no prison time “is not appropriate” and would minimize the jury’s verdict from November. Jennings said she was “startled” there weren’t more people injured in the raid from Hankison’s blind shots.

According to Axios, House Republicans have halted major legislative work ahead of their six-week summer recess to avoid voting on amendments that would force the release of Jeffrey Epstein files. Democrats are capitalizing on this, pushing GOP members to go on record about Epstein, while President Trump pressures Republicans to suppress the issue.

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise criticized Democrats for not releasing the files when they controlled the House. The House Rules Committee is avoiding votes on major bills, focusing only on noncontroversial ones, as Democrats plan to introduce more Epstein-related amendments.

Some Republicans, like Rep. Thomas Massie, are pushing for a vote to release the files, confident they can secure enough support through a discharge petition. If House Speaker Mike Johnson blocks such a vote, Massie warns it could be seen as a cover-up.

Prince William and Harry's cousin has been found dead with a 'firearm nearby'.

Rosie Roche, who was the granddaughter of Princess Diana's uncle, died at her family home on July 14.  The 20-year-old was found by her mother and sister after she had been packing for a holiday with friends. 

A firearm was found near to her at the property in Norton, Wiltshire, The Sun reports. An inquest at Wiltshire and Swindon coroner's court was opened and adjourned until October 25.

Coroner Grant Davies said police 'have deemed the death as non-suspicious and there was no third-party involvement'.

Outspoken New York progressive Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez seems to have gotten a taste of her own medicine.

AOC's Bronx campaign headquarters was vandalized with red paint and a note attached to the front gate reading 'AOC Funds Genocide in Gaza.'

Footage shows the NYPD's evidence collection team arriving to remove the sign and investigate the scene.

The unhinged action came days after AOC voted against an amendment proposed by MAGA Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene to cut funding to Israel's 'golden dome' air defense systems by $500 million.

The amendment to the annual military spending package - known as the National Defense Appropriations Act, or NDAA - was backed by only six members of the House of Representatives.

Only GOP firebrand Thomas Massie and AOC's leftist 'Squad' sisters of Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib supported MTG's flamboyant amendment.

A group called the Boogie Down Liberation Front took responsibility for the attack on AOC's office.

The Trump administration is expanding its search for partners to build the Golden Dome missile defense system, courting Amazon.com's Project Kuiper and big defense contractors as tensions with Elon Musk threaten SpaceX's dominance in the program, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

The shift marks a strategic pivot away from reliance on Musk's SpaceX, whose Starlink and Starshield satellite networks have become central to U.S. military communications.

It comes amid a deteriorating relationship between Trump and Musk, which culminated in a public falling-out on June 5. Even before the spat, officials at the Pentagon and White House had begun exploring alternatives to SpaceX, wary of over-reliance on a single partner for huge portions of the ambitious, $175 billion space-based defense shield, two of the sources said.

Musk and SpaceX did not respond to requests for comment. After Reuters reported initially that SpaceX was a frontrunner to build parts of Golden Dome, Musk said on X that the company had "not tried to bid for any contract in this regard. Our strong preference would be to stay focused on taking humanity to Mars."

President Trump is pulling the US out of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), citing its anti-America and anti-Israel leanings as well as its woke agenda, The Post has learned.

Trump ordered a 90-day review of America’s presence in UNESCO back in February, with special emphasis on probing any “anti-Semitism or anti-Israel sentiment within the organization.”

Upon conducting the review, administration officials took issue with UNESCO’s diversity, equity and inclusion policies as well as its pro-Palestinian and pro-China bias, a White House official told The Post.

Among the faults cited are UNESCO’s publication of an “anti-racism toolkit” in 2023 and its 2024 “Transforming MEN’talities” initiative, the former of which called on member states to adopt “anti-racist” policies and compete in a “race to the top” to be the foremost social justice advocate, answering questions about the history of racism in their jurisdictions and then working to ensure equity.
