Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday suggested a review of the Federal Reserve that would go beyond the current controversy over building renovations and look at its overall function.
โWhat we need to do is examine the entire Federal Reserve institution and whether they have been successful,โ Bessent said during an interview on CNBCโs โSquawk Box.โ โHas the organization succeeded in its mission? If this were the [Federal Aviation Administration] and we were having this many mistakes, we would go back and look at why has this happened.โ
The comments come amid an intensifying conflict between the White House and the central bank.

JUST IN๐๐ฅ : The White House is removing the Wall Street Journal from the pool of reporters covering the presidentโs weekend trip to Scotland, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told POLITICO.
The move follows the Journalโs report alleging that President Donald Trump sent a sexually suggestive message to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003. Trump has denied the existence of the letter and POLITICO has not verified it.

A Florida man was arrested last week for allegedly threatening on X to kill "EVERY ONE" on what he believed was the Jeffrey Epstein client list, charging documents unsealed Monday show.
Terrell Bailey-Corsey allegedly posted the threats on X last Tuesday, seemingly reacting to a response from X's AI agent Grok that disputed any such client list exists, as the FBI and Justice Department recently confirmed.
"Well @grok you're wrong. Everyone involved if I see them in real life I will KILL. On sight," Bailey-Corsey allegedly said. "I will KILL EVERYONE ON THE LIST. ON SIGHT. AND THEY ABSOLUTELY DESERVE IT."
Roughly an hour after that post, Bailey-Corsey posted another message singling out three government officials -- unnamed in the charging documents -- saying he would "KILL YOU ON SIGHT."
"IT'S TIME TO START KILLING POLITICIANS ON SIGHT," he added minutes later.
Prosecutors detailed multiple other concerning messages they say were posted by Bailey-Corsey over the next several days, including a video posted where he threatened another unnamed government official.

๐๐ปRep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., introduced legislation to prohibit federal taxpayer funding of so-called transgender animal research of the sort the Department of Government Efficiency halted this spring on mice and the subject of an earlier House Oversight Committee hearing on animal cruelty, especially efforts approved by former National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci.
The Transgender Research on Animals Now Stops and Money for Ideological Cruelty Eliminated Act (TRANS MICE Act), whose text is not available yet online (HR 4512) but was provided exclusively to Just the News by White Coat Waste Project, whom Mace thanked for its advocacy, would prohibit federal funding to "conduct, support, or fund (directly or indirectly)" certain research.
That includes "any research to study the effects of drugs, hormones, surgery, or other interventions to alter the body of a qualified animal to no longer correspond to the biological sex of such animal," specifically by "disrupting the development of an animalโs body; inhibiting the natural functions of the animalโs body; or modifying the physical appearance of an animal."

Alleged CIA Involvement and Government Trust in Assassination Operations:
This document details accusations that the Johnson Administration trusted the CIA to orchestrate MLK's murder, motivated by his planned march on Washington during an election year, which was seen as a political threat. It notes the CIA's belief that Ray (the arrested assassin) had been "safely spirited abroad" post-assassination, leading to internal chagrin when he was captured instead. Rationalizations for the killing were reportedly withheld, implying suppressed justifications or cover-ups. This connects to broader concerns about the CIA's growing power and patterns in other high-profile assassinations (e.g., JFK and RFK), fueling theories of state-sponsored elimination of civil rights leaders.

Rep. Mark Green's last day in office was Sunday, leaving 219 Republicans and 212 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
With Green's departure, there are now 431 House members and four vacancies, including those from late Democratic Reps. Sylvester Turner of Texas, Raul Grijalva of Arizona, and Gerry Connolly of Virginia.
Green, the Republican from Tennessee, said last month that he would leave Congress for the private sector once the House voted again on President Donald Trump's "big, beautiful bill," in a statement first obtained by Fox News Digital.

๐ฅThe pistol brace rule instituted by the ATF was vacated on July 17, 2025, after President Trumpโs DOJ agreed to dismiss the lawsuit launched under the Biden administration.
The Firearms Policy Coalition celebrated the victory on the day the dismissal was announced: โThis afternoon, Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) and the federal government agreed to a joint dismissal of the governmentโs appeal in our Mock v. Bondi lawsuit, a case that successfully challenged the Biden ATFโs โpistol braceโ ban and secured injunctive relief for gun owners while the case was being litigated to final judgment, which completely vacated the rule.โ
Renowned AR-15 maker Daniel Defense lauded the dismissal too.

Judicial Watch on Monday announced that the Justice Department (DOJ) has filed a "statement of interest" in its lawsuit against the state of Illinois, which calls for the state to clean up its voter rolls to be in line with federal law.
Judicial Watch filed its lawsuit last year and it is part of a larger string of lawsuits against Democratic-led states to clean up their voter rolls to purge residents who have died, or who are otherwise ineligible to vote.
The DOJ claimed in its filing earlier this month that the case "presents important questions regarding enforcement of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA)," which requires states to make reasonable efforts to remove ineligible voters from the rolls. States are required to remove the names of people who fail to respond to confirmation notices and do not vote in the next two general federal elections.
