I always get nervous these. Read fine print and make sure you get base pay plus commission and that your commission doesn’t kick in until after base met. My son did similar job and he got base pay but commission only stated about 15 sales. And there was a lot fine print so he didn’t make as much as he thought.
Just approach people in the manner that you’re trying to help them not just sell them something. Helps them be more receptive and if they reject you it doesn’t feel so bad when you were just trying for to help. At least that’s what helps me.
Salesman are dropped off here in my neighborhood daily to knock on doors. I don't even get up and answer the door for 2 reasons: 1. We have a NO Solicitation sign on the door and 2. We are not in a position to buy anything right now. Most neighbors do the same and then get in our neighborhood Facebook page and complain. I applaud anyone who is working but not sure this is as lucrative as other jobs.
