That would be a huge no for me. I could never take a job annoying people.

I always get nervous these. Read fine print and make sure you get base pay plus commission and that your commission doesn’t kick in until after base met. My son did similar job and he got base pay but commission only stated about 15 sales. And there was a lot fine print so he didn’t make as much as he thought.
Just approach people in the manner that you’re trying to help them not just sell them something. Helps them be more receptive and if they reject you it doesn’t feel so bad when you were just trying for to help. At least that’s what helps me.
Salesman are dropped off here in my neighborhood daily to knock on doors. I don't even get up and answer the door for 2 reasons: 1. We have a NO Solicitation sign on the door and 2. We are not in a position to buy anything right now. Most neighbors do the same and then get in our neighborhood Facebook page and complain. I applaud anyone who is working but not sure this is as lucrative as other jobs.
Course Careers may work better for you. I hear they start at $65k to 70k. You may want to get out of Spectrum sales as soon as possible. I worked as a cable technician for six years. I also worked in Business technical support Aka call center hell for a year and a half. The company will always have outages. They use coax cable which is inferior to AT&T Fiber.
Taking this job is a tough sell in itself! Training and personality and knowing what people like are what you need in sales. As personable as I am, I still don’t think I could do it. I’m the type that if I want something, I go out and get it. I don’t want to be bothered at home at some random time during the day, catching me off guard and trying to influence me to make a decision-and a financial one-in the moment. Some may do well, and have the personality to do it, and have no qualms about doing it. If you don’t feel that way, I’d say don’t do it. The signing bonuses are overrated. They’re spread over time and taxed at a higher rate. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I did door to door sales for AT&T back in 2013. My experience was that they hyped up the “potential” of your pay to a point where is was disingenuous after starting the role. I made barely any money and ended up working at the mall after a few months of the door to door because I wasn’t making any money. The ONLY good thing about it was that I was in great shape 🍑 I would strongly advise against this role.
I did sales for spectrum. A couple of years ago. It was awful. To say that the expectations were unrealistic is an understatement. Be prepared to have literally 98% of people you talk to shut the door in your face. Not only that, but the company itself has terrible customer service and has a reputation for not exactly being on the up and up. They try to entice you with the pay because the work is terrible. I hate to be the bearer of this news, but I urge you strongly to run away. There’s a ton of turnover.
There are so many scammers out there that people not totally trust someone coming to their door.
So many times in local fb groups there are people posting pics from their security cameras. “This person came to my door at - o’clock. My camera than caught them going to the houses across the street.” “ This guy got picked up on my camera plus I recorded this white car going slowly along the road. Looks like with him. Be aware.”
You will run into lots of resistance. No soliciting signs and mostly people not home during the day.
There will be more discouragement than sign ups.
Door to door is not needed these days because people can look online to find what they need.
If you not like people coming to your door it will be harder for you to go to others.
How many hours a day do you have to do this? What if weather bad? How long work before get bonus?
Bonus split in 6 month payments….How long have to work after that to not have pay back bonus? What area work in? How often go same neighborhood?
If spectrum been in a neighborhood a while most probably have it or if not had bad experience with it.
Be a hard NO.
Make sure the pay is guaranteed. My wife showed up at one of these a month ago and quit first day when she found out there was two weeks of unpaid training. After that it was commission only, but only if she met certain quotas. My guess was people sell a lot and get no pay for it during training and then never meet quota once they are supposed to get paid.
I love my spreadsheet and spent 10 years using it and adding more functionality and automation. I use EveryDollar free now. All of those cool features and a phone app to make it easy to manage on the go. If you are super technical and just want to use a spreadsheet, do it have fun. If you just want to budget and keep it simple. I would say give EveryDollar a 3 month trial.
Use the every dollar app. Used to use both excel and EveryDollar but it became a pain keeping up with 2 apps I still prefer excel as you can see everything in one place and control what the categories are but EveryDollar is simple to use.
My wife did this. Now there are multiple tabs with interconnected fields and formulas... She puts in any change and stuff propagates throughout the pages and updates everything accordingly.
Personally, it's overkill for me but she understands it and LOVES having the customizability.
My best recommendation, google up balance sheet templates but I think you'd really appreciate it better if you built your own.
Use Youtube and go through excel classes online. It's also a GREAT business skill to have. There are even certs you can get in the Microsoft Office platform.
You can also use Google Sheets for just about everything you'd need (Same function, different interface)
If you want, you can inbox New your email and I’ll send you what I’ve used.
I just started using EveryDollar. While it has its bugs, I prefer an app to a spreadsheet. It allows me to make adjustments on the fly. I also like the linking to my bank, although it’s delayed. Using the free version might be better and you add the transactions at the end of the day.
Used to use Excel and found it very difficult to keep up with. Had to consistently cross reference automatic payments, transfers, and every other transaction. Switched to Every Dollar premium and it’s so much better. The bank sync is great with our bank and my wife and I can both track much easier.
I used Excel for years until they came out with EveryDollar. I have used EveryDollar since it was released way back when (2015 IIRC). I only use the website version, not the mobile app. My old eyes can't handle the mobile version. I don't use it that much now because being empty nesters on BS7 with almost everything on levelized billing or annual payments, the monthly budget rarely changes now. Yes, it is nice to be in this situation.
I personally budget weekly. We get paid weekly. Some weeks are more heavy on payments than others. Weekly grocery budget, gas, etc. I list my weeks next to my month, so it’s still “monthly” but make sure to allot any extra money each week as “Carryover” or “Savings”. Carryover helps with a big bill the next week and savings puts money back each week for a big credit card payment at the end of the week!
I made a spreadsheet specific to my situation. I’ll try to create a “blank” sheet to share. It’s helped me a TON! It also adds up the savings to see what the balances are in different accounts- the savings buckets. So you can see how adding and extra $50 here or there can affect you a month down the road
