F-16s could have a significant impact on the war, but Ukraine was given old F-16s with bad radars. If the radars were upgraded, Ukraine could shoot down Russian fighter jets up to 100 km away. F-16s were also never allowed to fire a full range of weapons, such as no JASSM, JSOW, or a large amount of JDAM-ER were ever sent. The F-16 is just a fighter jet; it’s what it’s equipped with that matters. And the US clearly wanted it to be used almost exclusively in an air defense role.

HIMARS had a massive impact on the war. Hundreds of Russian ammunition depots were destroyed in 2022, slowing the Russian offensives and shelling significantly and allowing Ukraine to take back Kherson. But HIMARS is also severely limited; Ukraine isn’t getting ATACMS

@TroySweezey: What do you think they are doing? They are developing and have invested in dozens of their own missiles, missile-drones, naval drones, and propeller long range kamikaze drones.

Neptune, Long Neptune, Flamingo, Hrim-2, Peklo, and Ruta. I made a whole thread about it, but they are Ukraine and not Europe or US which have tens of trillion dollars in GDP. They also aren’t protected from strikes by the West like Russia is with its missile production.

If Ukraine is given a good quantity of Tomahawks with unrestricted range, it will make a big difference in the war. It won’t necessarily end it, but it will serious affect Russia. If they are only given 100 Tomahawks and allowed to strike 300km away, then it won’t do much in the long run. You were presented with evidence of Ukraine being severely restricted with weaponry like ATACMS and HIMARS, and you completely ignored that point. Did you really think 31 Abrams tanks were going to do anything?

Also, just sending Tomahawks, US isn’t going to send massive quantities because they have 4,000 in stock and need many for China. They aren’t going to be sending 1,000 Tomahawks to Ukraine.

However, a combination of ATACMS, JASSM, JASSM-ER, and Tomahawks, which US has 13,000 of, militarily speaking, would make a much greater difference in the war. One that would seriously affect Russia.
