@tom_bullock_: I don't think this is something we would see in countries that still have conscription (Nordics), as the majority with the most recent military experience will be the younger.
On the flip side, at least for Norway, a large percentage of the male population over 40 have military experience too.

Военнослужащие 24-го мотострелкового полка 70-й мотострелковой дивизии, находясь в состоянии алкогольного опьянения, управляли боевой машиной пехоты (БМП).
