RT @emilkastehelmi: Europe must prepare for the worst-case scenario, where the security architecture of the whole continent will be reshaped. It's still too early to say what exactly will be affected by yesterday's diplomatic disaster and how quickly, but the damage is likely very significant. 1/

RT @DarthPutinKGB: Zelensky must have been surprised. He went to Whitehouse and ended up speaking to Kremlin.

@OCastellarnauD @MaximeTrekLis: Both the French and the British maintain a continuous at sea patrol. Those are about as secure as nuclear weapons can be.

The Royal Navy would struggle with a crisis surge but the French demonstrated they could do it in the early days of the invasion, 2022.

@Shivak03: Uncomfortable in this context means uncomfortable for our leaders and politicians.

When we talk about a unilateral deployment to Ukraine, I think we should be fully conscious that it could lead to war.

Even Trump's format brings with it a risk of war with Russia somewhere down the line.

@Maks_NAFO_FELLA: Or maybe he didn’t say it. If you listen to the regular audio of it, without the amplification, it sounds like a normal sound. But the amplification of it makes it sound similar but still not clear

I made a thread with some loose thoughts about where we are now with the war, and what should be part of the strategic considerations going forward.

In short, due to the sins of the past, no easy, relatively cheap and risk free options are available anymore.

This might seem enticing, the Russians and the Chinese can throw up a smoke screen, only for these folks to discover, at the brink of war in the Asia-Pacific, that Chinese SSBNs are in the Sea of Okhotsk.

Russia and China aren't there yet, but that's the current trajectory.

@Maks_NAFO_FELLA: If restoring relations means Zelensky will be forced into a ceasefire with Russia, given the bare minimum or no military aid, disrespected like he was yesterday, given empty security guarantees, and forced to give up 20% of Ukraine to Russia then relations with US aren’t worth it
