The Senate Armed Services Committee is holding the confirmation hearing for Daniel P. Driscoll, President Trump's nominee for Secretary of the Army, on Thursday morning.

I imagine he will be getting a lot of questions about this contracting freeze. https://twitter.com/ColbyBadhwar/status/1884085247500779776#m

@swe_ukr: What would you spend the money on, that would actually mean increased defense capabilities in such a scenario?

There are limits to what the Western defense industry can produce and delivery timelines are real, often long because everyone is buying, Can't just pick what's available somewhere either because that might not be suitable for our needs.

Lastly and most importantly, one needs enough trained manpower, especially experienced officers and NCOs, to generate real capabilities, not just accumulate equipment.

RT @All_Source_News: First of all: there is absolutely no credible reporting that cartels are planning to shoot down deportation flights.

Second: if they did, WHICH CARTEL?!?!?!

Third: WITH WHAT SYSTEM ARE THEY GOING TO USE TO HIT A MILITARY AIRCRAFT TRAVELING AT 30K FEET? Cartels have S-400 now?

@oroborous: The US buying our missiles is exactly what we need right now. Means there's a capability that US companies can't fulfill.

Same goes for NSM to US Navy and Marine Corps.

Since the question was asked:

Norway selling missiles to the US is exactly what we need right now.

Whether it's JSM or NSM to US Navy and Marine Corps, this means there is a need for a capability US companies can't deliver on their own.
The Lookout (Twitter)

@oroborous: If I remember correctly, production of JSM has begun.

There is a missile factory being built in Virginia that also will produce JSM, but the US statement here says production for this contract will be in Norway.
