It might be easy to dismiss statements such as this as bluster and bravado, perhaps directed mostly at the home audience but I'd say, as @shashj,that's the wrong approach.
I think they really mean it, and despite the issues Russia are facing, believe they are getting there too.

@redbirdsglory @shashj: I think some of this comes from the old desire and search for recognition from the US, as an equal.
On the other hand, the EU, and Europe as a whole, are fragmented and struggle to assume this role, despite this potential.
Can Europe prove Patrushev wrong? I hope so but have to admit I ain't overly optimistic.

RT @tacticalturist: Початок третього тижня на позиції припав на Новий Рік, ну і відповідно з запасів людської їжі та смаколиків, які я приніс з собою, нічого вже не лишилося. Тим не менш, я врятував від себе пачку рису з овочами, і ми з фіном знайшли нормальну банку тушонки, дійсно смачної і з м'яса, а не та хуєта з ЗСУшних сухпайків.
Розігрівши тушняк і замішавши з рисом вийшло настільки смачно, шо я відчув себе окопним Гордоном Рамзі
Тому вийшла навіть така собі святкова вечеря
Комусь може здатися що це не прям піздец смачно, але повірте, коли ти два тижні топчеш консервовані відходи, то навіть такий скромний набір продуктів має неперевершений смак
