Military activity in Belarus in December 2024. Briefly

• After a break of 2 months, units of the Belarusian Armed Forces (up to 1,500 people) were redeployed to the border area with Ukraine;

• At least 145 UAVs flew into Belarus during the month, and 395 UAVs flew into Belarus during the year;

• The number of the group of the Russian Armed Forces in Belarus hasn’t changed – about 2000 people;

• A Russian military facility will be built in Belarus on the territory of the 1405th artillery ammunition base (military unit 42707);

• The aviation activity of the Russian Aerospace Forces increased twofold.

Redeployment of theian Armed Forces to the border with Ukraine: Numbers and locations

According to our data, in December, units of theian Armed Forces, which had been withdrawn from there in September-October, were redeployed to the border area with Ukraine. The units were redeployed to Stolin, Lelchytsy, Mazyr and Homiel districts of:

• The 11th Mechanized Brigade – to Stolin and Lelchytsy districts;
• The 120th Mechanized Brigade – to the vicinity of Ziabrauka and Bokau airfields;
• The 147th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment – Osa-AKM SAM battery (the location is unknown).

The exact time of redeployment of the units is unknown. The number of those redeployed to the border can be estimated at about 1500 people.

In addition, special forces units of the Internal Troops continue to be deployed in the border area. The units of theian Armed Forces and Internal Troops deployed in the southern regions of do not pose a military threat to Ukraine...

«North Korean troops went on the assault: Ukrainian Special Operations Forces killed 18 fighters on the Kursk Front

Soldiers of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled the assault of North Korean troops, which lasted from morning until night in the Kursk region. During this time, rangers of the 6th SOF regiment killed 17 North Korean soldiers, and one of them blew himself up with a grenade.

In the morning, a SOF clearing group moved forward, which came across one surviving North Korean soldier. He set an unsuccessful trap for the rangers of the 6th regiment.

The North Korean fighter tried to mislead the SOF soldiers and blow himself up with them on a grenade. When the SOF rangers approached him, he blew himself up.

The SOF soldiers noticed the danger in time and quickly left the affected area. No one was injured.»

Berkut-3, Groza-6 and floating transporters: New equipment of the Belarusian Armed Forces in December

During the month, the Belarusian Armed Forces received a number of new types of military equipment. First, the Engineering Troops received a batch of equipment modernized at enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex. These are the PTS-2 floating transporters, IMR-2 engineering vehicles, and bridge-laying vehicles.

In December, supplies of EW equipment also continued. The 48th Separate EW Battalion received at least two R-934UM2 Groza-6 automated jamming stations.

Various UAVs continue to be supplied to the Belarusian Armed Forces. For example, the 927th center for training and use of UAVs began to operate the Belarusian-made Berkut-3 reconnaissance UAV.

In addition, the Belarusian Armed Forces are to receive a batch of ATZ-6 and ATZ-12 fuel tankers.

The number of the Russian Armed Forces in Belarus didn’t change in December

The Russian Armed Forces are still stationed in the following locations in Belarus:
• Baranavichy, Mazyr (Bokau) and Ziabrauka airfields – up to 530 people;
• Baranavichy radar station and the 43rd Vileika communication center – up to 1450 people;
• the 484th Military Investigation Department and the 313th Military Prosecutor’s Office of the garrison – up to 20 people.

Currently, Belarusian Hajun estimates the number of the Russianry stationed in Belarus at about 2000.

In addition, in early December, BELPOL reported that a Russianry facility, which will include “structures for accommodation of personnel and vehicles” will be built on the territory of the 1405th artillery ammunition base (military unit 42707, Vialikaya Harozha, Asipovichy district) in 2025. The reason for the construction of the facility is still unknown.

Increase in aviation activity of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Belarus

In December, the aviation activity of the Russian Aerospace Forces increased more than twofold compared to November due to Putin’s visit to Minsk in early December. During the month, Russian aircraft arrived at:
• Machulishchy airfield - 1 An-148 and 3 IL-76;
• Minsk National Airport – 5 IL-76.

Also, two Su-30SM fighters are still based at Baranavichy airfield.
