@Grog_IsGood @clashreport: Actually, there are over 15,000 visitors to the Eiffel Tower per day, depending on the day of the year there maybe many more. And likely over 1,000 in the Eiffel Tower at once.

@Heroiam_Slava: Let’s not pretend that Denmark 🇩🇰 was ever going to be able to stop US from invading Greenland 🇬🇱
It’s doubtful that 155mm shells were going to do much either. They are getting F-35s from the US by the way.

🇷🇺Med Sea Flotilla🇷🇺
Landsat8-9 of Tartus (10 Jan 2025)
While Sparta still waits outside Syrian territorial waters, there appear to be 2x vessels at the 🇷🇺naval piers
Both look commercial although this is where the weapons runners have loaded/unloaded in the past

This is very interesting but not a cause for panic yet.
An invasion of Taiwan would be the most complex operation in history and while China is preparing and training, they still have a way to go before they can put such an operation together, especially against US intervention.

Amphibious operations are in general very weather dependent and we know from history that Mulberry type operations are especially vulnerable.
As China gets more prepared, years IMO, the climate and weather will determine what time of year an invasion actually is possible.

Another historical note:
Leading up to the Normandy landings, the Allies had the opportunity to learn lessons from Torch, Sicily, Salerno, Anzio and a whole host of operations in the Pacific.
The Chinese will get one real shot, with all preparations done in peacetime.

@MatejRisko: There are other options short of a cross strait invasion they could go for. Some of them would require much less preparations, thus shortening the warning time.
Their main problem though, is how to treat the prospect of US and even perhaps Japanese intervention once things go beyond a certain level.
