RT @michaeldweiss: "I am worried about how much pressure is going to come from the U.S. as to why the Kursk operation was necessary. I wouldn't be surprised if the Biden administration voices worries about that or of 'excessive escalation'."

RT @Mortis_Banned: T-62M tanks driven on low-loaders reportedly on the road from Kursk to Sudzha

Tactical marking matches the one used by Russian troops in north Kharkiv oblast. If reserves are indeed moved from there, it should relieve some pressure at least on that front

RT @olliecarroll: My report on Kursk attack - what appears to be an attempt by Ukr to show the emperor has no clothes. Op is highly risky + most officials are tightlipped. But an intel source tells me he is happy with way things are going. “We have options.”

Kursk Battle Map (August 8 - 18:00)

Ukraine 🇺🇦 has liberated 27 settlements in the Kursk Region of Russia and expanded their gains to +430 sq kilometers

Some fore are reported to be around 25km to 30km inside Russia. Ukraine is using the lack of defense and geography to advance

@cym27s: Because Russia placed the vast majority of their ground forces in Ukraine 🇺🇦 that’s why they were so scared of Ukraine using Western Weapons inside of Russia. The defenses are much weaker there; the entire war, Russia has mostly been a safe zone for Russian forces until recently

@SteinsG59247290: It depends on how many troops Ukraine has on Kursk, how weak Russian defenses are, and how bad Russian logistics are in that area after this offensive. Russia also has the vast majority of its forces in Ukraine, so it would need to withdraw those properly to defend its border.
Ukraine Battle Map (Twitter)

@SteinsG59247290: Since the offensive just began two days ago, no map could show or predict exactly what area Ukraine could defend very well if Russia attacked them or what Ukraine’s strategy was. Those details become more apparent with time as Ukraine builds proper defensive lines in the area

After several days, or weeks in less populated areas, it will become clearer where Ukraine has maintained a troop presence and where they have withdrawn from. The recon groups in the yellow shade on the map going 10km farther into Russia, according to most available reports, those further gains are not primarily occupying settlements but instead going around them and advancing on long fields and roads. Each territory is more challenging to gain; depending on how many troops Ukraine has advancing, they could withdraw and choose to go in a different direction, quickly lose the land they are in, or put up a fight and solidify the land. One benefit is the rivers in this area will help Ukraine keep certain areas they currently control. Unfortunately, one of the biggest problems for Ukraine in the past year has been the number of troops they have available to defend and for an offensive.

@utomatictooeasy @Tatarigami_UA @CinC_AFU: I have never been mad at him. I dislike his management style, especially the way he micro manages battalions. I dont think it's a healthy way to lead. I have not changed my opinion on this.

RT @NOELreports: According to Voenkor Kotenok Z-blogger, Ukraine is actively using helicopters on Russian soil already.

"In the area near Sudzha, enemy helicopters have been spotted entering Russian airspace. They are being used for transporting personnel, ammunition, and evacuating wounded soldiers."
