@mipps312346 @DefMon3 @PhillipsPOBrien If you read the whole thing, you’ll see that my argument is that Ukrainian forces would move to cities and fight from there. I thought a head-to-head conventional fight outside of cities would play to Russia’s strengths.

@charnwoodelf @DefMon3 @PhillipsPOBrien I agree. Please read the entire thing.

@John_A_Ridge @DefMon3 @PhillipsPOBrien Yes but i was asked about what the UK could best provide on February 8th to help Ukraine in addition to what they already had. I was not saying conventional weapons are unimportant. There was a lot of unconventional fighting in Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, etc.

@John_A_Ridge @RALee85 @PhillipsPOBrien If you think M270s were even on the table at that point you have a short memory.

@John_A_Ridge @DefMon3 @PhillipsPOBrien Yes but I’m receiving death threats from people who thought I was arguing against providing arms because it was hopeless. I was *advocating* for sending the weapons I thought would be the best option based on the timing and circumstances. This was the earlier part. https://t.co/5Vt4PR2u6u

@John_A_Ridge @DefMon3 @PhillipsPOBrien It was a bad line, and I certainly got stuff wrong. I’m not disagreeing with your points. Just saying that people interpreted that quote as though I was saying something very different. If he had simply included the next sentence, the context would be much clearer.

@John_A_Ridge @DefMon3 @PhillipsPOBrien So it was Feb 8 and I thought the window for an invasion began on Feb 9 because that’s when the exercise in Belarus began. I didn’t think the UK could get M270 or AD there before the invasion began, so I thought LM most practical. Appreciate the respectful disagreement.

@martin509984 @John_A_Ridge @DefMon3 @PhillipsPOBrien It’s ok to criticize me for that quote. It was a poor choice of words. But i was advocating for providing what I thought was the most practical capability because I thought Ukraine could hold its cities. Most people think I was arguing something else.

@mipps312346 @JScoreForever @John_A_Ridge @DefMon3 @PhillipsPOBrien I just want people to know that I used the opportunity to advocate for further lethal aid to Ukraine because I didn’t think it was hopeless. Im ok with criticism about the other stuff I said.
