@shashj I think the MoD and Wagner have different goals and incentives, and Putin is sometimes the arbiter of which are most important. Wouldn't be surprised if they continue focusing on achieving a symbolic victory at the expense of greater military threats.

I'd wait and see before jumping to conclusions on what actually comes out of these rants and what sounds like an ultimatum.

If Wagner does eventually take all of Bakhmut, Prigozhin will take credit and emphasize that the Russian military and its leaders didn't take any cities or major objectives during the winter offensive. Not sure Shoigu and Gerasimov are particularly thrilled with that prospect.
