Two Ukrainian Sukhoi Su-24 attack aircraft and two Sukhoi Su-27 fighter jets were destroyed as a result of Russian strikes on the Kanatovo airfield in July 2022.

The attack was consequence of a failed operation to persuade Russian pilot to land his plane in Ukraine.

The details are emerging now as the Security Service of Ukraine declared the former acting commander of one of SOF units, Roman Chervinsky, a suspect of exceeding power or official authority by a military official, in connection with the pilot plot.

#Ukraine: The serious deficit in missile stocks for Ukrainian legacy Soviet air defense systems are covered in all possible ways; one such example are these orange-toned missiles for the 9K33M3 Osa-AKM.

These missiles are apparently from 🇯🇴 Jordanian stocks.

Jordanian 9K33M2 Osa-AK systems were withdrawn from service in 2017. 35 out of 52 were later sold to Armenia, with the destination of the rest unclear.

The 9M33M2 missiles used with Jordanian Osa-AK are older and less capable than the 9M33M3 usually used with the Osa-AKM.

Hence, these missiles, according to Ukrainian SAM operators, have a reduced interception rate (50-60% instead of 80% usually). That said- something is better than nothing!

@magictouch190:
The missiles they started the war with, Ukrainian stock from USSR reported to have a success rate of ~80%

Missiles being used now have been supplied by an unnamed country and reportedly only have a success rate of 50-60%

Reportedly the Osa has long been retired in that country

@Ikwane They are simply older and less capable.

@RecoilOperate_d Well, it appears these missiles are not the only ex-Jordanian equipment in Ukraine.

Not even the only SAM-related ex-Jordanian equipment :)
