It was recently reported that a number of ancient BTR-50 APCs were delivered to Russian forces in #Ukraine- we obtained a photo of one of them.

This unit appears to be a BTR-50PU command&staff subvariant, adopted in 1958, however it is unclear for what role it will be used now. https://t.co/kHkAKLSQQ3

@cjvmarshall @Tatarigami_UA I do hope Western resolve remains strong and the closer one gets to Russia, the stronger that resolve is, including supporting Ukraine through a long war.

There are things we could do better, a real Western industrial mobilization to sustain Ukraine is the most important one.

@Tatarigami_UA @BjornHamso IMO as important as taking land in the next offensive is the destruction of as much as possible of Ru's capacity to wage war. Don't allow another Kherson escape. Try to encircle whole brigades/divisions. Aim to achieve mass surrenders so the rot sets in. Film to undermine morale.

Important to add some nuance. There are more military bases in these regions, and that is often because of strategic reasons (e.g. the Caucasus). A military salary isn't competitive in areas with a high cost of living, which is one reason Moscow-based units had serious shortages.
