This debate is getting heated and I'm not privy to Ukr General Staff operational picture nor future plans, but:
From an analyst perspective, I'm getting increasingly concerned the handling of Bakhmut since mid Feb could negatively impact future Ukr operations and their prospects
-----------
@RALee85:
1: Bakhmut is no longer a good place to attrit Russian forces
2: The attrition ratio became worse once Russia seized the northern flank in mid/late-Feb
3: The attrition ratio in Bakhmut is worse than elsewhere
4: The % of Russian casualties from elite units is higher elsewhere https://t.co/slQUgaZ3Wd

These men say they have been assigned to the "114th Assault Infantry Regiment".
I'm not sure what unit they are referring to.
Is it the 114th Guards MRR / 127th MRD / 5th CAA (currently near Avdiivka), the 114th Guard SMRB / 1st AC or is it a new formation?

@wartranslated:
Artillery mobiks really want to fight and "defend their motherland", but the "General Staff" won't let them. For some reason, they're being sent into meat assault. https://t.co/38TBOUq8ED

RT @Historian_Matt: @SmartUACat This is so stupid. US should've offered 184 M1A1 Abrams for Greece's 184 Leopard 2A4. Ukraine doesn't want or need leftover Soviet junk they want Western kit so that NATO supply chains can sustain them. What the hell are US policy makers thinking to do this at this stage?

To clarify my concerns:
I interpret the Russian operations since January as a possible attempt to prevent, or at least restrict and disrupt the expected coming Ukrainian offensives by forcing an early commitment of reserves and supplies, esp artillery ammunition.

By trying cling on to terrain in one sector under now unfavorable circumstances, with the resulting losses and expenditures, I see a risk of Russia achieving this.
There are of course unknowns here, but Bakhmut looks different than Vuhledar, west of Kreminna, Svatove or Kupyansk

@Nalikill So Ukrainian 🇺🇦 troops sacrificed their lives and lots of civilians were killed just to get to the same place they were last year?
That seems like a massive reward for Russia. They get to kill hundreds of thousands of people and keep 100% of the land that they stole before 2022
