@am_misfit This is taking very long, much longer than estimated

One thing we are relearning is that assaulting entrenched defensive positions with minefields that are covered by artillery fire and under observation is very difficult. Moving in a file makes sense to avoid mines especially if you have a limited number of minerollers.

Perhaps I'm stupid, for I have little understanding of the land domain and ground-based maneuvers, but how come tactical level Russian formations move in a single file on a (paved) road when approaching enemy positions, like say in Vuhledar? https://t.co/AzSo2lmJzt

@ManglerOfProse Was talking more about non-military audiences. I think the issue for them is that they don't have the necessary advantages (e.g. air superiority) to overcome Ukraine's defenses there, but politics is playing a role in continuing to order assaults.

@ManglerOfProse I think the effect use of RAAMS is interesting because people keep pushing for doing away with FASCAM, but they are obviously still quite useful. One of my other overall points about the way is that we tend to focus on new systems but old tech is still very effective.

@MassDara And Muradov, but I think this all comes back to Putin consistently setting unrealistic expectations and relieving everyone who fails to achieve them.

A Wagner telegram channel posted a video of another apparent execution of a former prisoner and Wagner fighter with a sledgehammer. He was reportedly previously captured by Ukrainian forces.

@CasualArtyFan They're saying that Ukrainian units are employing RAAM after they clear lanes. I think it is just tough breach minefields in open terrain under the constant observation of UAVs and within range of artillery.

@RALee85:
A Lost Armour moderator says that the failed assault in Vuhledar (captured on video) was due to Remote Anti-Armor Mine (RAAM) launched by Ukrainian 155mm howitzers on a corridor that had been cleared of mines. The vehicles either hit these mines of the TM-62 out of the corridor. https://t.co/ms5L38AJJg

@CasualArtyFan Well they say that UR-77 are unreliable, and apparently they were leaving mine rollers behind earlier in the war because the tank crews didn't like using them. Still, most of the videos now show a mine roller up front.
