Some thoughts on D+12:

Though it can seem as if the Russian forward momentum has been lost, they are slowly consolidating their advances, while they continue try and grind down Ukrainian forces using artillery and airpower.

Ukr resistance has been heroic, and they have been conducting successful defensive ops, but as others have noted, the biggest unknown now is the state of the Ukr regular formations.

While they have inflicted heavy losses, nearly 2 weeks of fighting must have taken a toll.

Observations Russia:

Russia needs to untangle their logistics, secure their supply lines, move units forward and replace losses.

I expect some kind of Ru mobilization, as this likely requires more manpower than currently available. Also needed as hedge against escalation.

Observations Ukr:

Ukr needs to trade space for time in most sectors, inflict heavy losses while avoiding own catastrophic losses.

Current status of Ukr regular units are unknown.
Having combat-effective heavy units + artillery is vital, especially for counterattacks.

Where is this war heading? I don't know.

The poor Ru performance and high losses, heroic Ukr resistance and high morale, the brutality, Ru domestic issues, Western assistance and the effects of sanctions + the danger of further escalation are some factors shaping the future
