I share @shashj misgivings about this article. Framing a future battle for Kherson as "shape the fate of Ukraine" isn't helpful. I also think it's wrong to say so.

Kherson is one sector of a long frontline, and the Dnipro plays a significant role, constraining both sides.

Among many factors, attrition is among those that matters the most.

If Russia chooses to feed reinforcements into an area with very fragile supply lines, Ukraine can inflict serious damage without without being overly focused on terrain.
