A friend trapped in Hostomel village, near the airport, says around 50 Russian tanks and 50 grad launchers gathered and moved toward Kyiv at 1800 - there has been heavy exchange of fire in that direction since. He said the airport had been destroyed and could not be used to land.

🚨 Air raid warning in Kyiv. And missiles being fired on the capital. I’ve counted three large strikes in past five minutes. Watching from my window and seeing the sky light up; roar of explosions reverberating across the city.

It's notable that we're not seeing any images/videos coming from the Russian MoD showing combat operations/missile strikes on targets in Ukraine. It's likely Moscow doesn't want to further antagonise Ukrainians whose support will make it easier when seeking a political solution. https://t.co/NUKc1lTR1r

NEW: Russia has deployed several large contingents of ground forces and nearly 150 ground attack and transport helicopters in southern Belarus, per satellite images.

Here's one buildup of helicopters and troops in Mazyr, just over 60 miles from Chernobyl.

Turkey and Russia have an interesting relationship with areas of cooperation (e.g. S-400, joint patrols in NE Syria) and areas of competition (e.g. Idlib, Libya, Karabakh,). Turkey has also provided more offensive weapons to Ukraine than any other NATO country.

And defense cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey goes both ways. Ukrainian engines could fill an important gap in the Turkish defense industry. Anyway, it's complicated.

This night we have to stand ground. The fate of Ukraine is being decided now."

RT @konrad_muzyka: This is probable as Russia is committing to battle second echelon forces that just arrived from Belarus.
