He is a 2009 Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School graduate who then served in the VDV's 45th Spetsnaz Brigade and 31st Air Assault Brigade. He took part in the Hostomel operation and then commanded the 328th Guards Airborne Assault Regiment.
