The rescue tug accompanying both of these acts as a general purpose auxiliary and is what enables a long deployment, far beyond the normal patrol length.

My take: There is likely nothing wrong with the sub and with a rescue tug supporting, Kilo Med patrols without Tartus is doable.

The German Navy will run it's most hectic live fire exercise in decades over the coming two weeks off Andøya, Northern Norway.

The return journey might have taken a bit longer than usual but they might have done weather avoidance at some point and they crossed paths with the Ford CSG, somewhere between STROG and Lisbon.
