❗️After a long pause, Russia is again sending big armored columns into attack. A mass assault with 35 tanks & AFVs on Ukrainian positions took place in the area of responsibility of Azov 1st Corps (@azov_media):
Oct 9 — Ocheretyne axis: Russia launched a massed assault, committing 35 heavy armored vehicles (tanks & AFVs), preceded by waves of motorcycles, aiming to seize Shakhove.
Results of Ukraine’s defense:
•Personnel: 107 Russians KIA, 51 WIA.
•Vehicles destroyed/damaged: 1 armored recovery vehicle (ARV), 3 tanks, 16 AFVs, plus 41 motorcycles and 2 light vehicles.
The assault came in several waves from multiple directions: motorcycle groups first, then tank/AFV columns with infantry. Thanks to pre-laid minefields and coordinated actions by Ukrainian artillery (AFU & National Guard) and UAV crews, Russia was forced to reroute, lost orientation, abandoned vehicles, and dropped infantry in unplanned areas.

@pnwnyr41: I’d like to correct the previous statement I made about 800 ATACMS being active. I got the number mixed up, it’s 1,200 ATACMS active. 800 ATACMS in storage, and 400 more on order
This means US can transfer up to 40% of its existing ATACMS to Ukraine without touching active stock

Today, October 10th, the @usf_army also reports the destruction/damage of an abnormally large number of Russian armored vehicles. 1 tank and 29 IFVs, of which 10 were destroyed. And this is taking into account that the day is not yet over.
To compare the size of Russian losses in recent days, the USF reported 58 tanks and 62 IFVs in total for the entire September. https://twitter.com/bayraktar_1love/status/1976539286276276555#m

The contract is said to be worth a "three-digit million-euro" sum which will be financed through the proceeds on frozen Russian assets.
Personal note: I expect this to be about 20-25 vehicles built on the leftover Leopard 1A5BE hulls that RHM has in storage after needing to strip their turrets for spare parts.
