@cym27s: To recap, as of now, there is no evidence that they destroyed a Patriot, let alone four launchers and a radar, until there is a video or concrete proof. Somehow, they can get the specific number of launchers and radar destroyed, without having a video of it occurring. Are they mind readers?
It could be a decoy, like a previous Patriot they hit in Dnipro, it could be another system like S-300 or Hawk, which they have confused for Patriot before with video, or it could be no air defense system they destroyed. They make claims up like they did with 50 HIMARS. Also, Ukraine usually keeps 1 or 2 launchers in one place, not four launchers and a radar, so the claim doesn’t make any sense without video proof. This isn’t the first time Russia claims to destroy a Patriot when they didn’t; it’s like the 10th time.
Patriots move around and are not always close to the city; they are in fields that are km from the city. Not everything is reported on Telegram, nor is every Patriot launch reported on a Telegram channel. Likely, the vast majority of Patriot launches are not reported.
This has been seen numerous times in the past with Odesa, Kyiv, Pavlohrad, and other parts of Ukraine. Just because an air defense system doesn’t fire for a couple of days, or to be more specific, isn’t reported on a telegram channel that it fired, that doesn’t mean it was destroyed. That’s a big assumption to make without any evidence, and neither does it mean a missile was not fired.
War is different; many things could be going on. Ukraine has a shortage of Patriot missiles; they could save for a larger strike, repositioning systems, or a missile out of the 120-degree range that cannot be shot down or Patriot could be firing but not reported. Until there is evidence, the claim should be treated as nonsense.
