Ukrainian drone strikes are underway in Rostov Oblast, southern Russia.

The Governor of Rostov Oblast, Yury Slyusar, said that a private house in the settlement of Ryazhenoye caught fire after a drone fell on it as Russian air defenses were repelling the attack.

Many do not understand

1. Neither Russia nor Ukraine has won or lost the war in the past two years. Both have challenges and successes.

2. The front will collapse if Ukraine is not sent the right amount of aid to defend itself from Russia. If a ceasefire is made, Russia will rearm significantly over several years themselves, while Ukraine will focus on reconstruction

3. Putin’s goal is to take as much of Ukraine and Europe as he can. Ukraine is one of the strongest and largest militaries in Europe. Countries like Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, and Georgia would be taken in weeks if no one comes to defend them like the US. Hitler didn’t have the forces to take all of Europe; the country refocused its efforts on war and took less powerful countries before invading stronger ones. With large parts of Ukraine under its control, Russia would be much stronger economically and militarily than it is now.

4. Europe and the US cannot afford to ignore Russia...

Take the Vietnam War. From a purely economic and military balance-of-power perspective, the US had overwhelming advantages in every major aspect, and most of its military operations were successful. Yet it was American civil society and, by extension, political will, that collapsed before North Vietnam, not the other way around.

Ultimately, this is a major factor in war. But if you look at contemporary military science and analytical discussions, it often boils down to personal opinions and general “vibes” on this topic
