RT @deaidua: It's already well known that Rheinmetall is planning to manufacture Lynx IFVs in #Ukraine. To date, I have repeatedly pointed out that AFAIK the project has no secured funding. SPIEGEL now writes that Rheinmetall plans to start the production in Ukraine in 2027.
Still, no information on whether there is a signed contract with secured funding, or whether 2027 is simply a possible timeline.

🇺🇸🇷🇴 The US State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Romania of 400 GBU-39B Small Diameter Bombs, plus associated equipment and services for an estimated cost of $84 million.
SDB unit cost is ~$50,000.
The prime contractor would be @BoeingDefense.
"The description and dollar value are for the highest estimated quantity and dollar value based on initial requirements. Actual dollar value will be lower depending on final requirements, budget authority, and signed sales agreement(s), if and when concluded."

You can always count on them to proudly declare that they will buy European made products but when it comes time to sign a contract, there is never any money.
