2.🇷🇺83rd Air Assault Brigade POWs in Kursk.
From late December we start seeing a flow of POWs from the 83rd.
He signed up to fund the reconstruction of his house after a fire.
It seems he was captured on his 1st action.

RT @shashj: On the real meaning of the Hegseth comments: the first metric to watch is whether the Trump admin makes changes to US force posture. In particular, whether we see key enablers & also some naval forces being moved permanently out of Europe.

@MaMLSod: While the Ukrainians are right to push for NATO membership, as strong security guarantees are fundamental for a viable future for them, unfortunately, it has never been a likely outcome and the Russians know that.

On territory, it has been clear since the 2023 offensive failed, that short of Western intervention (with everything that brings along), taking back all or even substantial amounts of occupied territory has been unlikely.

This doesn't mean that I personally like either of the two points, they point towards a dark future, but this is where events have put us.

@MaMLSod: Amplifying a bit:

On security guarantees and especially occupied territory, there's a big difference between what's the morally right position, what's best for Ukraine and for Europe, and what's realistically achievable.

One doesn't have to like it.

And as always, we are getting ahead of ourselves when talking about negotiations.

What the Russians actually do, or are willing to accept in any form of negotiations, is a big part of the equation.

Right now, the Russians think they are winning.

RT @MicaSoellnerDC: NEW: Trump issues lengthy statement on phone call with Putin and says they will soon be informing Zelenskyy of their conversation to begin negotiating an end to Ukraine war.

Also thanks Putin for Fogel’s release.

@1stFinFreecorps: Unfortunately, I think there is a realistic possibility that Trump saves the Russian economy.
