Trump said he plans to meet Putin “very quickly” after he becomes US 🇺🇸 President next week (Reuters)
To recap the potential/likely deal Trump may propose to Ukraine 🇺🇦
1. Russia gets to keep all the territories they illegally occupied
2. Russia gets Ukraine to agree not to be in NATO for at least 10 to 30 years
3. Russia gets most sanctions made by the US during the war removed, allowing Russia to regrow its economy and gain more leverage over Europe
4. Russia gets a restart of diplomatic relations with the US
5. Ukraine gets defensive aid in significantly smaller quantities than they are getting today (for Trump to claim he didn’t abandon Ukraine)
6. Ukraine may get “vague” security guarantees from the US, which likely will not include the US defending the country in case of another invasion but instead guarantees of defensive military aid and economic loans from the US
7. Most importantly, Russia gets no consequences for its...
