The clashes, which began around December 26, 2024, have intensified as both sides fight for control of the dam and surrounding areas.

The situation remains volatile, with ongoing military operations and airstrikes contributing to fears of severe damage to the dam's infrastructure, potentially leading to a humanitarian crisis if it were to fail. The Tishrin Dam is not only a strategic military objective but also vital for civilian infrastructure.
