RT @michaelsobolik: During SCOTUS oral arguments just now, TikTok admitted that executing a qualified divestiture in *any timeline* would be “extraordinarily difficult.”

Why? Because the engineers that update TikTok’s source code are based in China.

TikTok and ByteDance are inseparable. By design.

@OccTranspo: WW2 was when over the horizon warfare came of age through airpower, both land- and carrier based, hardly the days of cannons.

Missiles today have a similar role to what manned aircraft had back then. You still have to find the targets and then penetrate the enemy's defenses.

@OccTranspo: I don't think we will come to any agreement on this but I would caution against writing off the lessons of WW2.

Also, I would caution against underestimating the challenges of OTH-T, even in 2025 and especially in a high intensity war. This can lead to, serious mistakes in assessing both one's own and the enemy's capabilities.

RT @jakluge: Wow... The gloves are off. The latest sanctions are going to cause a lot of disruption in Russia's oil trade. 160(!) additional tankers have been sanctioned. In the past, US tanker sanctions have turned most of their targets into scrap metal.

@NavyLookout: Standard operating procedure for Kilo's going to and from the Med. It's a transit, not a patrol and in the Channel they would have to surface anyhow.

What's perhaps usual with this particular transit is the absence of an escort.
