"First and foremost, it depends on the person leading the unit – the commander. If the commander is a professional and strives to be both a friend, father, and brother to the soldiers and shows interest in the life of the unit, the unit will succeed. However, if commanders are incompetent and just give orders with a pencil on a map, there will never be success.

Interaction with the lower ranks is also crucial – it's a long process, from the common soldier to the colonel. Building a combat-ready unit takes years because it’s a challenging process.

– Unfortunately, the Soviet-style approach is still present. I don’t understand it. When will we stop showing only pretty pictures instead of facing the truth? For example, when they show training exercises, as soldiers who fight, we find it laughable...

Soviet influence also means that real problems are often concealed or lied about to higher-ups. This fear of superiors is a significant issue, inherited from Soviet times."

RT @Teoyaomiquu: according to Yuri Butusov:

Ukrainian drones successfully targeted the 67th Arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian General Staff near Karachiv, Bryansk region, causing significant damage and numerous injuries. This was reportedly the first independent operation by the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Unit. The 67th Arsenal, located 120 km from Ukraine's border, serves as a key logistics hub for Russian military ammunition. Such targeted strikes contribute to periodic ammunition shortages for Russian occupying forces.

From an interview with a Russian Storm V POW who is being tried for executing a Ukrainian soldier.

"They said they didn’t need assault troops, that they had already recruited people. We believed them and went. Only those who could do physical work went; no one could even imagine that they would have to take up arms. But when we arrived, they told us: 'Welcome! You are now part of the Storm V assault units. You are now assault troops.' Training began. After that, they sent us closer to the front line.

We, convicts, are used as meat, they are cleaning up the prisons in Russia. They sent us, trained us for a month, then sent us to storm, put us all down, and brought in new ones. There are no people left in the prison. More than 1,500 people are taken away every month — from one colony alone.

We were taught shooting, grenade throwing, digging trenches, and nothing more.

There were 18 of us on the assault. I don’t know, but it seems that everyone was a...

"After learning that 1.5 million draft-eligible Ukrainians were granted mobilization deferments as employees of “critical enterprises,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suspended future deferment applications until Nov. 15, Ukrainska Pravda reported on Oct.

Citing a government memo, the journalists wrote that Zelenskyy was reportedly dissatisfied with how many Ukrainian companies were able to shield their employees from getting mobilized into military service.

'The president attended the meeting... he was incensed that 1.5 million [men] were granted deferments,' a government source told the journalists."

"Russian forces have increasingly started using ammunition from North Korea in the Vovchansk area of Kharkiv Oblast. This was reported by the press service of the Kharkiv Operational-Tactical Group on Telegram on Oct. 9.

According to the military, Russian troops in Vovchansk were conducting isolated personnel movements for logistical support and replenishing current losses.

'There has been an increase in the use of North Korean-made shells by the Russian army,' the Kharkiv group emphasized."

RT @bradyafr: The oil depot struck by Ukraine earlier this week in Feodosia is still burning after several days.

This depot is the largest in Crimea, the Ukrainian peninsula occupied by Russia since 2014.
