Military activity in Belarus in May 2024. Briefly.
This is the first in a series of posts about the key military events of May in Belarus.
• In May, joint Air Force drills of Belarus and Russia were conducted in Belarus, as well as the inspection of TNW carriers.
• The aviation group of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Belarus increased by two fighters.
• Aviation activity of the Russian Aerospace Forces increased 4 times during the month because of the Air Force drills and the arrival of Russian aircraft in Belarus.
• The number of the Russian Armed Forces in Belarus hasn’t changed. The contingent of the Russian Armed Forces continues to be stationed in the same locations as before.
• The number of mercenaries of PMC Wagner in Belarus remains low. They continue to train security forces of the Lukashenka regime.

The Belarusian Armed Forces are training to repel drone attacks: What weapons are used?
According to our data, in May, the Belarusian Armed Forces conducted a number of trainings on repelling attacks on military town facilities, as well as to counter unauthorized UAV flights. For example, such trainings were conducted in Brest and Slonim.
To counter unauthorized UAV flights, the Belarusian Armed Forces use a number of weapons, for example:
• Groza-R2 radio-electronic multicopter shotguns:
• MR-155 Baikal semi-automatic shotguns.
The first public demonstration of the use of the MR-155 Baikal shotgun as a weapon against UAVs took place in October 2023 during the operational training session of the Belarusian Armed Forces at the Staradarozhski training ground. Later the MR-155 Baikal was supplied to most of the units of the Belarusian Armed Forces and became a standard means of fighting UAVs.

Units of the Special Operations Forces continue to be stationed in the regions bordering Ukraine, and the 120th Brigade is stationed in the area bordering Lithuania.
In May, we continued to record the presence of the Special Operations Forces in the border area in southern Belarus. The total number there is still 400-500 people, and they are stationed in the same locations as before:
• A battalion of the 103rd Airborne Brigade.
Where: the vicinity of Ziabrauka airfield.
• A detachment of the 5th Special Forces Brigade of the Belarusian Armed Forces.
Where: the vicinity of Mazyr.
In addition, in early May, the withdrawal of units of the 19th Mechanized Brigade from the area bordering Lithuania (from Ashmiany and Pastavy districts) was recorded. A few days later, however, they were replaced by a battalion tactical group of the 120th Mechanized Brigade. On May 8, two convoys of this brigade’s equipment were seen in Ashmiany and Astraviet...

@Misfit4Ukr68491: Let’s say they do have an S-500 in Crimea, and it will add an anti-ballistic missile defense system and could effectively intercept ATACMS, while S-400 cannot
S-500 could intercept up to 10 ATACMS, the entire battery. Meaning at max with 15-20 ATACMS the whole S-500 is destroyed
