@zakavkaza @ASPertierra: Surprising move, but remember that Serdyukov was in charge of the Federal Taxation Service before he was appointed. Might be more about improving management rather then particular knowledge of defense issues.

Shoigu will continue to supervise the work of the Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation, which oversees arms exports and foreign other defense cooperation (Moscow Times reported that the FSVTS would no longer be subordinated to the MoD yesterday), and will be the deputy for the military industrial commission. 4/
