RT @BWallaceMP: For every action, Putin must feel a reaction. For the murder of Navalny we must: 1. Nato members to pledge to train 200k Ukrainians a year. 2. Double down on supplies including Taurus from Germany. 3. Tighten the Sanction regime. 1/2

RT @DarthPutinKGB: Happy Independence Day "Lithuania"! Here is a picture of you peacefully leaving Russia in 1991, for which you don’t show enough gratitude.

Russia is the leading provider of European independence days.

Russian S-300/S-400 air defense systems were activated over the city of Novoshakhtinsk in Rostov Oblast of Russia tonight.

Located on the outskirts of Novoshakhtinsk is a large oil refinery, which was already attacked by Ukrainian drones in 2022.

Russian forces continue their advance in Avdiivka, including approaching the town of Lastochkyne to the west.

This is a critical moment. Given Russia's manpower and resource advantages, Ukrainian units being encircled or taking heavy losses in a withdrawal could have a significant effect on the war. The relative resources expended in this battle will likely be the most important factor. https://twitter.com/RALee85/status/1758629744323473712#m

@CLeonWarter: Personnel is the bigger issue and Ukraine can't afford to match Russia's losses.

It could also have a serious negative effect on morale and future mobilization, which is exacerbated by the lack of and uncertainty over future US aid. Unlike during the battle of Bakhmut last year, Ukraine does not have the same reserve of new units being formed. 2/

The battle of Bakhmut became more costly when Wagner forces closed within direct fire range of the MSRs leading into the city. The problem is worse now because FPVs can threaten targets at much greater ranges than ATGMs, and they will make a withdrawal more dangerous. 3/

@kueilelee @AaronShelor @Maks_NAFO_FELLA: Taiwan needs it much more than Israel. In my opinion US should be sending a lot more to Taiwan, not $2 billion but more than $10 billion. Because while Israel fights Hamas a weak militant group

Taiwan needs to defend itself from China the 2nd largest military budget in the World

Ukraine 🇺🇦 needs $30 Billion of PDA (immediate) military aid and $30 Billion of USAI military aid (orders) from US to start achieving success in the war

Instead, US 🇺🇸 claims to want to provide Ukraine with $60 billion of aid when half of it is for Submarines, Fighter Jets, and other military equipment US buys for itself to “respond to the situation in Ukraine”

In reality, only 1/3 of the $60 billion would be for military aid to Ukraine, and about $7.9 billion would be for economic aid. The rest is for the US military, under the disguise that it is for Ukraine when it's not

Ukraine 100% needs the $21.6 billion of military aid to hold the fronts and maybe take back some land, but to make progress they would need $60 billion of military aid. US should realize that goal, and help Ukraine win instead of dragging the war out and entirely stopping aid for Ukraine. Or at least not label $60 billion for Ukraine when only about $30 billion is for Ukraine

When the Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel aid bill is passed it will certainly help Ukraine to stabilize the situation at the front, and is necessary, but it won’t be enough for a change in the war. Another very large supplemental package containing a lot of military aid directly to Ukraine would need to be passed by Congress, and a shift in US foreign policy would be needed for Ukraine to be able to gain significant amounts of territory

If US does not request another large military aid package for Ukraine, and next year requests a similar package as the current one then the war will drag on indefinitely without any chance for Ukraine to win

Hopefully @POTUS @SecBlinken and @SecDef realize this and make it a priority for Ukraine to win the war

@Overhead72: It would cost a lot more money for the US and lives for Ukraine to drag the war out this way, than go all in and win it.

The big questions now are how costly the withdrawal will be, and the quality of the next defensive line. Several sources have noted the lack of a well-prepared defense-in-depth outside of Avdiivka, and Russia has reserves, which it will likely commit for exploitation. https://twitter.com/RALee85/status/1758644944154038293#m
