@PhillipsPOBrien How many countries bordering Russia could have weathered an invasion of the scale Ukraine faced, without significant Allied reinforcements being at least in theatre at the outset?

Russian capabilities were overestimated, but one analytical failure doesn't justify a new one.

@krakek1 @PhillipsPOBrien As more details become available, it increasingly looks like the initial days of the invasion were a much more close run thing than most appreciates.

The results of unsupported infantry attacks over open terrain in this war have been predictably poor.

@BromleyElliott No it's not because of opsec. It's most likely a result of attrition. The question is, does RuAF have enough resources and personnel to pick up the pace again or have we seen the peak of their winter offensive? I do not have the answerer for that, but my guess is, we will se more

#Ukraine: A few days ago Ukroboronprom reported on the start of serial production of Ukrainian 122mm artillery ammo in cooperation with "a NATO country" abroad- here are images of these projectiles from the likely test batch in use on the battlefield already back in January🔽

RT @RALee85: One of the reasons I’m skeptical when people say the tank is obsolete is that technological advances, such as in thermal optics, UAVs, more accurate and longer range artillery and machine guns, have also made light vehicles and infantry more vulnerable.

The projectile received the "OF-462LCh" index- it is similar to early Soviet OF-462 and has a fuze adapter in the top part of the projectile. The markings and this feature allow to ID it as Ukrainian.

The OF-462LCh is loaded with TNT and has a RGM-2[M] point-detonating fuze.

In general, this is a standard 122mm HE-FRAG projectile. However, an additional source of this ammunition, consumed in huge amounts daily, would obviously be useful.
Along with production in Eastern Europe, this allows the use of Soviet-origin artillery for as long as possible.
