On the 5-year anniversary of the Battle of Khasham, the Grey Zone channel admits that Wagner's assault on US positions was pre-planned. They say the Russian military's Aerospace Forces and Air Defense Forces were supposed to support the operation.

They say the operation involved two Wagner assault detachments, vehicles/armor, an artillery company, and Syrian forces. At midnight, Wagner assault detachments advanced with armor and their artillery began to fire. Then strikes hit the front and rear of their column. 2/

They say they couldn't tell where the strikes came from, but later discovered it was from Reaper UCAVs. Then came Apache helicopters, F-16, and AC-130. The active phase of the battle ended at 4am though strikes continued until 6am. 3/

They say they received no support even though there were Russian Air Force aircraft nearby at the Deir ez-Zor Airfield. They say there is a rumor that some pilots tried to get permission to take off but were refused. They also say that Wagner sustained less than 200 KIA. 4/

@KyleWAGibson Something quite different.

This tracks with the account from a Wagner veteran who took part in the operation. He also said they couldn't tell where the air strikes were coming from. 5/

When asked which was his worst battle, he said the fight with US forces near Deir ez-Zor on February 8, 2018,
"Of course, on the Euphrates. Because I felt just, helpless". He said they couldn't see the enemy because they were facing US helicopters (Apaches). 19/ https://t.co/AU41oPTEh2

3. Correction
The film in tweet 1 of numerous Russian dead and an abandoned MT-LB are not in Vuhledar but are north of Opytne (the one north of Donetsk airport).
So this definitely won't turn into a Vuhledar thread.
