Putin has announced partial mobilization, with initial callup said to be 300 000 men.
Something had to be done with the manpower problem, and partial mobilization was prehaps the least bad option available to them.
How it plays out, however, remains to be seen

To recover from the current situation, voluntary measures likely won't be enough. The impact on morale from the Kharkiv offensive will likely seep out to also affect recruitment.

@DGmartin This is the same advisor who advised the Obama Administration not to get involved in Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine 🇺🇦 in 2014. Obama ignored questions and didn’t take any serious actions, basically let Russia get away with it. It was the Senate that pushed to get Ukraine Javelins.

@Pray4LaPaz Ukraine would never be allowed to use them on Russian territory. Ukraine has HIMARS, they could easily hit Belgorod or Kursk or a military base 2 km from Ukraine But they never have because US sets the rules. Ukraine must get ATACMS to hit supply lines deep in Ukraine and Crimea.

@VoteRedForLife That’s not the point. Russia’s saying if US gives ATACMS to Ukraine then US will be dragged into a war with Russia. We all know that Russia will never pull America into the war because they will lose within days. Russia is stoking fear in NATO so they don’t help Ukraine to win.🇺🇦
