Interesting details from this video from Ukraine’s Kraken unit in Balakliya. It shows 2S3 Akatsiya howitzer, Strela-10, what looks like a bridge layer, MT-LB (one with a ZU-23-2), BRDM-2, a captured Tigr-M, pick up trucks, and possible HIMARS launches.

I think the use of pick up trucks in this case is due to a lack of armored vehicles.

Yes, but they are affecting Russia's ability to prosecute the war and many of those effects will become greater over time (and other countries are watching). As with other lessons, we should wait until the war is over to draw strong conclusions about the efficacy of sanctions.

@stephenwertheim:
Because Washington is averse to evaluating the effectiveness of the economic sanctions it proliferates, it is worth noting the record of sanctions so far in the Ukraine war: they failed to deter the invasion and have failed to stop the war.

@NoYardstick:
The Russian government is administering an across-the-board cut of 10% in budgetary expenses. This is in reaction to a larger-than-expected decline of fiscal revenues over the summer (a deficit of close to 1.5 trillion rubles). This is likely only the first step. https://t.co/1A86AutZD2
