I wonder if this means units previously under the Eastern Military District's command are now subordinated to the Central Military District. At the beginning of the war, each of Russia's 4 primary military districts had their own AO but the force and overall AO is now smaller.

A month and a half ago, Zelensky said Ukraine had suffered 2,500-3,000 KIA and another ~10k WIA. If these daily losses are accurate for May, that would mean another 1,800-3,000 KIA and 15k WIA. I think losses from mid April to early May were probably less.

Regardless, these are serious losses, and they will affect whether Ukraine has the numbers to conduct offensive operations later this summer. Heavy losses on both sides suggest that a more attritional struggle will be likely this summer.
