/1. Breakdown of Trump’s bullshit narrative about a fabricated “Sunday-to-Sunday” truce and his ongoing attempts to justify Putin.
The first mentions of an “ceasefire” are dated back to the January 29, coming directly from Trump himself. Trump claimed that Putin had agreed to halt strikes on Ukrainian cities for a week. Prior to January 29, there had been no talk whatsoever of any ongoing “ceasefire,” and Russia never stopped attacking Ukrainian cities or energy infrastructure.

/2. According to the Financial Times, Ukrainian officials learned about the supposed “ceasefire” only from Trump’s video remarks on January 29. Until that public statement, there had been no contact with the Ukrainian side on this issue, and Kyiv had no confirmation that any ceasefire would even take place.

News: Donald Trump has said Vladimir Putin agreed not to fire on Kyiv for a week amid frigid temperatures in the Ukrainian capital, after the US president personally asked his Russian counterpart to do so.

@steventduffy: Fast is relative. The schedule is well within the contract parameters. The delay was issuing the requirement in the first place. Should have been done in Spring 2022.

An important statement by @POTUS about the possibility of providing security for Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities during this extreme winter period. Power supply is a foundation of life. We value the efforts of our partners to help us protect lives. Thank…

/4. On January 30, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that “the countdown began overnight.” Yet under Trump’s claim that the ceasefire ran “from Sunday to Sunday,” it would have had to begin on January 25—five days earlier. The timelines simply do not match. https://twitter.com/ZelenskyyUa/status/2017314621560868953#m

/5. On the night of February 2–3, Russia launched a large-scale aerial attack on Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv. From the moment the so-called “ceasefire” was first mentioned on January 29, only a little over four days had passed.
This directly contradicts Trump’s claim that it lasted a full week. In reality - if it can even be called a ceasefire at all - it lasted from the evening of January 29 to the evening of February 2. There was no week-long truce, and there was no “Sunday-to-Sunday” ceasefire. https://twitter.com/bayraktar_1love/status/2018576099601535452#m

/6. Further evidence that Trump’s latest excuse for Putin, that the ceasefire supposedly ran from Sunday to Sunday, is a cynical lie and pure fiction can be seen in just one example among many:
On January 27 and 28, Russia carried out massive aerial attacks on Odesa, striking both the city itself, killing and injuring dozens of civilians, and energy infrastructure across the Odesa region.
These attacks caused temporary power outages affecting hundreds of thousands of people. This alone is enough to disprove Trump’s claim of a “Sunday-to-Sunday” ceasefire, which, to be real, would have had to last from January 25 to February 1.

RT @OstapYarysh: Donald Trump says Putin kept his promise not to strike Ukraine’s energy: “The pause was Sunday to Sunday...We will take anything.” However, during that period Russia attacked Ukraine’s power grid multiple times—on January 25, 26, 27, 28, and on February 3.

RT @PhillipsPOBrien: I hope people understand what happened here. Yesterday in the late afternoon, Trump said that Putin had promised not to attack Ukraine in such a way that it would damage their heating. Then a few hours later, that is exactly what the Russians did in a massive attack.
Add 2 and 2 together and what do you get? Trump helping Putin by deliberately passing on disinformation in the hope of lulling people into a false sense of security.
Once again, Trump is helping Putin kill Ukrainians. https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/2018441450321490186#m
