French authorities exposed and stopped a Russian-planned assassination attempt on Vladimir Osechkin, the founder of Gulagu.net, known for revealing torture in Russian prisons.

On October 13, France’s anti-terrorism prosecutors arrested four men, aged 26–38, including three from Dagestan, Russia.

They had tracked Osechkin in Biarritz, where he has lived since 2015, preparing to kill him. The suspects made several trips from Paris and Nantes, filmed his home, and traveled through Spain to hide their movements.
