RT @RALee85: Drone warfare has not lessened the requirements for physical fitness or toughness for infantry and many other specialties. Ukrainian infantry often have to walk up to 10 kilometers just to reach the front line and often spend months at a time on the zero line without rotation. UAS crews often have to walk long distances with heavy equipment as well. Poor physical fitness remains a liability in combat.

The sad and dangerous irony here is that the future of war is happening in Ukraine, and it's drone warfare, which has nothing to do with dusty boots, or beards, or how many push-ups you can do. That's what we need to be preparing for. https://www.nytimes…

As always, there are important nuances in this debate too.
What Rob says should be a key takeaway from the war on this aspect. Ground combat still hinges on physical fitness, requiring something I would sum up as military endurance, a rather timeless thing.

Of course one can debate concrete requirements, test regimes, differential approaches for various positions, branches and services, and how much focus should be placed on PT in day to day routines, but technology hasn't made this aspect obsolete, especially in ground combat.

The campaign in support of the 14th Separate USF Regiment has now reached €50,780 out of the €66,000 goal.
This progress brings us significantly closer to completing the full package of vehicles and systems for the regiment.
📌
Every contribution helps close the final gap and ensures the unit receives all the resources it needs.

@GB_Drone: I asked a Ukrainian Marine brigade commander how he would structure a brigade if he could and he said he’d expand the amount of infantry. Plus, our next war will look different than the current battlefield.
