Still, it did a great job exposing two groups who are all too eager to push doom-laden, pro-Russian narratives: the so-called “Think Tank” experts, and the loudmouths who constantly brag about their “sources.” In both cases, their supposedly well-grounded, objective assessments turned out to be built entirely on tweets and rumor-mongering.

It also underscored the gap between people with genuine sources on the ground and those who rely entirely on social media chatter. And it is a reminder that people are not always what they present themselves to be. Sometimes the polished expert is just an echo chamber, and the anonymous account online actually has the better contacts.
