RT @Forsvarsdep: HNoMS Roald Amundsen has departed from Bergen for the last time in eight months 🚢

Over the next eight months, the frigate will join a UK Carrier Strike Group sailing through the Mediterranean, Indian Ocean and Indo-Pacific. The support vessel HNoMS Maud will accompany parts of the mission🇳🇴🇬🇧

Norway’s Defence Minister, Tore O. Sandvik, was among the approx 200 people on the quay, wishing the frigate a safe journey.

‘Our crew is far from home, but their mission strengthens our defence at home. The UK is our closest European ally. This cooperation is vital for security in the High North. The experience gained from integrated carrier operations bolsters the defence of our waters and strengthens Norway’s security,’ said Minister of Defence Sandvik.

A British Wildcat helicopter will be embarked aboard HNoMS Roald Amundsen throughout the deployment.
