You should apply to at least 50 to 100 jobs over a month or two, and then if you don’t hear back, apply within a couple of weeks, then apply to more.
Make sure that you have a detailed resume. Even if you don’t have much work experience, you should still include your education, past experiences, and interests. Make sure that your resume has a good-looking design, not just black and white.
Then, the most important step: you can do this for every job you like, but if it’s too many, it may take up a lot of time, so focusing on quality over quantity is important. Pick 20 of your favorite jobs you applied to, and write a strong cover letter if they allow it in their application, or if they don’t allow a cover letter, then send them an email directly explaining your interest in their jobs. It doesn’t need to be super long, but a good-length email about why you want to do their job, specifically what you’ve researched about their company, and anything else you’d like to mention. Most people I know who have gotten good jobs directly contacted the company they applied to after submitting the online or paper application. That will show real interest, and they will be much more likely to take you.
Applying with a resume and a couple of questions they ask usually isn’t enough. Try to submit a full-page cover letter or a couple of paragraphs email about why you want to do the job, or you can do both a cover letter and email. Email someone higher up in the company who is responsible for accepting people or someone with a higher position who has influence over hiring others.
Be confident that you will get a good job. Even though it may seem like others have more experience than you, still believe in yourself that you will get the job you want. And really show the employer that you are willing to do anything to learn and be as productive as you can.
