@FRHoffmann1 @AlexLuck9: 🇺🇸 Raytheon has been awarded a $14.3 million contract modification for continued RDT&E of the Joint Multiple Effects Warhead System, which will be installed in recertified Tomahawk All Up Rounds.
This variant will be known as Tomahawk Block Vb.
The FY25 budget request includes 5 LRIP JMEWS, of which 3 will be used for operational testing, and 2 will be installed in recertified missiles. https://twitter.com/John_A_Ridge/status/1814819812956078257#m

RT @FRHoffmann1: Probably means that JMEWS is on track for IOC by first quarter of 2027.
There are some interesting implications to this, including in the Russian context. U.S. maritime assets will be able to hold at risk a bunch of hardened, high-value targets from the Baltic Sea currently out of range of NATO assets. https://twitter.com/ColbyBadhwar/status/1840757801666130158#m

Australia is also making historic investments in national defence. Amazing what can be accomplished when governments focus on the things that actually matter.

If a Labour government in Australia can deliver a surplus budget, why can’t Canada bring its budget back into balance? https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-09-29/australia-s-second-consecutive-budget-surplus-larger-than-tipped/

Reports of failed RuAF attack today in Vovchansk.
Lots of reports coming all day and now media.
Here approx 13 RuAF got fucked up.
One report:
'Today, 17 MT-LB, 3 tanks and more than 100 paratroopers were involved in the assault operations in the Vovchansk direction.
16 MT-LBs were destroyed and 1 tank was knocked out, which was able to retreat together with others.
Now the guys are finishing off the remaining infantry, the main mass has already been sent to Kabzon'.

RT @LucasFoxNews: Reporter Q yesterday: Mr. President, will you deploy more U.S. troops to the Middle East?
Biden: No
Pentagon today: A ‘few thousand’ U.S. troops to deploy to the Middle East

@Mortis_Banned: Hard to tell how common it was, partly because risk tolerance was different then, especially on the Western side.
"The risk of that mishap was actually quite low. I’d had plenty of experience flying close wing on another aircraft." - Pilot in the middle

@The_Lookout_N @Mortis_Banned: Another example are these stunts out of Iceland, barrel rolls over Bears.
These were done on hand signal requests by the Soviet crews so not unsafe according to the F-4 backseater interviewed here.
