RT @MeNMyRC1: My thanks to @MT_Anderson for providing this Planet Labs imagery and allowing me to publish it with comments.
As is readily apparent, the RS-28 Sarmat test was a complete failure. The missile detonated in the silo leaving a massive crater and destroying the test site. The Sarmat is a liquid fueled missile so this accident could have occurred separate from the actual launch activity.
If this occurred as part of the fueling process, it could explain the lack of Cobra Ball activity on the day of the incident. This first, and last successful test of the Sarmat was April 20th,
With these events now official, this is at least the 4th failed test attempt of the "combat operational" Sarmat Heavy ICBM.
Note the 4 fire trucks responding to the forest fire. https://twitter.com/MeNMyRC1/status/1837558007527625148#m

@OAlexanderDK: Russia has ~260 active ICBM silos in total. It wouldn’t be surprising if half or more malfunction or get blown up during launched. The rest would be destroy by US Trident 2 or Minuteman III missiles within 15-30 minutes if needed or destroy by cruise missiles in a couple of hours

@ukraine_map @OAlexanderDK: US is able to take out, all of Russia’s ICBM silo, their maintenance centers, mobile launcher bases, nuclear bomber bases, submarine bases, and important air bases within 30 minutes to 8 hours in total. And they are able to take out all their cruise missiles, ICBM production, space communications infrastructure as well, and bomber repair facilities within a day as well.
The only main challenge would be taking out submarines capable of launching nuclear ballistic missiles, if US knows where most of them are then they could sink them, and there would be couple remaining but they likely wouldn’t launch due to being killed if they do. Most importantly there is one person which US would target if Russia tries to go to nuclear war against US, and that is Putin who would not decide to launch nuclear weapons at US becuase it would be the end for him. If US wants to take out all Russian ICBM silos, mobile launcher basses, air bases for heavy bombers, submarine bases within 15 to 30 minutes they would have 50% of their Minuteman IIIs, remaining, as well as 50% of their currently loaded Trident IIs remaining. The Trident IIs could be fully reloaded to up to 100% within weeks.
US would also have thousands of other nuclear weapons remaining, only needing to use 320 to 380 of their nuclear warheads of their +5,000 nuclear warheads to disable Russia as a threat, and B-2s or B-21s wouldn’t even need to be used for this, and US would still have over 90% of their AGM-86B nuclear cruise missiles if they decide to use some. US would only use nuclear weapons against Russia if they know Russia would launch nuclear weapons at them, otherwise US could disable Russia’s main air forces within a day without using a single nuke.

@stewak2 @OAlexanderDK: Some would probably be destroy by NATO, the rest wouldn’t have bases to go back to. What’s 112 nuclear ballistic missiles, probably less due to some submarines being destroyed and missiles malfunctioning vs +4,600 nuclear warheads US would have remaining. Russia would surrender.

@ukraine_map @stewak2 @OAlexanderDK: Let’s not forget that France and UK also have their own submarines with nuclear ballistic missiles that would pose a threat to Russia if they tried or planned to launch any at the US. Russia would be hit within 15 minutes. And the strikes may come at night when Putin is sleeping.

@stewak2 @OAlexanderDK: Who said that it’s going to happen? Anything is possible in nuclear war, however, if Putin is taken out or knows he would be if he launches a single nuclear weapon then he wouldn’t launch them at all. That’s why the WW3 escalation argument, the nuclear war argument is ridiculous.
