There is evidence enough to link a reported Tu-22M Backfire raid and the track of the Aya, but there's one thing putting me off:
The damage seems too light, even for a dud
This is a 12m, 6 tons when fueled, supersonic missile. There should have been fuel remaining in it too https://twitter.com/navalnewscom/status/1834272405797167612#m

Consider this as a preliminary thought. Think it's too early for hard conclusions on this one.
Also, I haven't seen any Romanian statements yet, which could be an important part of the puzzle.

RT @vcdgf555: You can make out a 34 RED on the TU-22M3 nose gear door, which would make it RF-94234 from 200th Guards Heavy Bomber Regiment.
Also seen is Su-30SM 58 RED, which would be RF-81769 from 14th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment. https://twitter.com/The_Lookout_N/status/1834191121125146697#m

RT @John_A_Ridge: @shashj: Beyond TERCOM/DSMAC geodata, it is categorically false that U.S. or NATO intelligence sharing is required for Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG mission planning.
NATO intelligence products are highly desirable to support targeting and threat avoidance, but not a strict requirement. Ukraine can organically close the kill chain.

This would seem to reinforce the idea that the problem is with US targeting data required for certain sorts of Storm Shadow strikes. “A British defence source said that the UK did not need the support of other countries in Nato to go ahead.” https://www.…
