“‘We sent our most combat-ready units to the weakest point on their border,’ says a general-staff source deployed to the region. ‘Conscript soldiers faced paratroopers and simply surrendered.’ But other aspects of the operation indicate a certain haste in preparation. All three soldiers quoted in this article were pulled, unrested, from under-pressure front lines in the east with barely a day’s notice.” @olliecarroll

“Russia has shifted troops from the Kharkiv front, but so far it has moved far fewer from the vital Donbas front. ‘Their commanders aren’t idiots,’ says the Ukrainian general-staff source. ‘They are moving forces, but not as quickly as we would like. They know we can’t extend logistics 80 or 100 km.’”

More footages of Russian POWs from the Kursk region. First video shows loading of a group of captured Russians into the MaxxPro MRAP. On the background of the second video a VAB APC of the Ukrainian Armed Forces passes by.

RT @Kasparov63: Perhaps the US thinks it’s less "escalatory" to have Ukrainian soldiers marching up to these Russian launchers and destroying them by hand. Were these long-range restrictions part of the hostage deal? https://twitter.com/nexta_tv/status/1822693096301175138#m

RT @CovertShores: ***UPDATE***

Gas platform hit by #Ukraine with USV to dislodge #Russian placed GPS jamming / spoofing equipment two nights ago still burning. The fire likely prevents Russia from reinstalling the equipment.

@censor_net: @nucl0id If this photo is real, what should one think about it?

@whatboldness: Cut supply lines to where would be my question then?
Russia is a big country and logistical constraints will limit the Ukrainian advance, even in a best case scenario.

@whatboldness: I think there are other main objectives behind this operation, but things are still a bit unclear.

RT @nucl0id: Black smoke is coming out of one of the cooling towers at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Ukraine suspects that this is a Russian provocation and that a large number of car tires were set on fire there. It is difficult to say what it is.

But in reality, there is really nothing to burn in the cooling tower, so it looks very much like arson.

Maybe this is a provocation to accuse the Ukrainian Armed Forces of shelling or attempting to attack the Zaporizhzhia NPP? Then we are waiting for statements from the Russian side about this. If there really was shelling, it is strange that the cooling tower itself is not damaged and intact - you have to manage to get inside it with a shotgun or a racket without damaging the walls. I do not believe it. It is at least 150 meters high, and about 50-60 m in diameter at the top. Something has to be dropped vertically from above.

Well, or from below from the ground. Russia wi...

@whatboldness: I've seen the thread, just not convinced these aspects are what prompted the Ukrainian operation or are the main objectives of it.
The Lookout (Twitter)

@whatboldness: Perhaps I've been a bit incoherent and vague.

I think it's unlikely that the Ukrainians have conducted an operation of this scale, taking high strategic and operational risks, iot just cut or interdict that rail line.
